Yoga of 12Step Recovery (Y12SR) brings together the best of both worlds! Combining the ancient wisdom of yoga with the practical tools of the 12 steps. Y12SR Yoga starts with a recovery-themed topic discussion, followed by a yoga practice. (NO yoga experience is needed). Together we explore connecting breath and movement.
Doing some investigative work of Y12SR Yoga we learn how to cultivate new thoughts, patterns, and behaviors. Classes are open to ALL persons overcoming any addictions; behavioral, substance, or those affected by any addictive tendencies.

If you are breathing and moving you are doing yoga! Chair Yoga is a lovely form of yoga. For beginners, persons with limited mobility, even an experienced yogi interested in broadening their practice. Pranayama (breathwork), and meditation are explored during our chair practice. Chair yoga increases flexibility, strength, body awareness, and aids in calming the mind. Postures are performed while seated or with the aid of a chair. Any traditional yoga posture can be modified to be done in a chair, on your sofa, or on a bed. We explore together, twists, joint mobility, flexibility, strengthening of the core, hip openers, forward folds, and so much more.
This slow and stretchy practice allows your body to wake up mindfully and gently. Classes are themed around what you, my lovely students feel like your bodies are needing. For example, we might focus on lengthening the fascia, the connective tissue, beneath the skin that shrinks while we sleep. I invite you to notice and explore what your body is craving. I enjoy offering you many options encouraging you to make this practice as gentle or strenuous as you would like.
Story Yoga will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was during my Yoga Teacher Training (200 hr. YTT) with Story Yoga that I learned to love myself again. Helping mold the woman I am today. I am grateful to be on this incredible journey of recovery weaving together my passion for yoga. Because of that amazing oppertuity, I started my business Yoga with Krista.
Story Yoga is a nonprofit yoga teacher training program currently offering a fully-funded YTT program for people in recovery. Check out the Story Yoga to see all the new offerings. The Turning Point Center of Chittenden County has partnered with Story Yoga offering FREE yoga multiple times a week. Classes are gentle, and accessible to anyone, with any level of experience, including complete beginners. The classes are recovery-themed, and the instructors are also in recovery.
